Everyone seemed to be gearing up for Christmas and there was an assembly, so Farmer Tiffany mostly worked without the budding gardeners in second and fourth grade. We pulled up dead plants and covered over existing ones with the natural mulch of fallen leaves. There were plenty available in the garden since the big tree there just now dropped its leaves. In Nevada, our autumn seems to come a little late.
Rooms 29 & 30, the pre-k kids, did get to pull a few dead plants and covered plants that were alive with some fallen leaves, too. Plus, they looked at some broccoli and harvested some to wash and eat with their teacher.
The next step for most grades will be planning their gardens, an exciting prospect given that this is the first time many grades will get to decide what they grow in their beds.
